Feelin' kinda phone-y

Hey Mom!

So I have been without a phone since Christmas Eve. Now I want to say that this has been entirely my choice. Yes, I could pay human money to have a professional fix my phone... however, when I realized I could pay much less human money to fix it myself.  So I watched YouTube tutorials, I ordered parts and now I am just waiting.

Yet in my solitude, I have learned many things.... here are 10 of them:

TOP TEN THINGS I LEARNED WHILST PHONELESS:
  1. I use my phone for much more than I realized. Turns out my phone is more than just a phone, it's also an alarm clock.... so basically I was semi-sleeping in a constant state of terror that my alarm wasn't going to go off... until I found my old ipod which, as it turns out, is also an alarm clock.
  2. Some people will only try to call you the moment your phone breaks. I have missed so many free cruises, you have no idea.
  3. Not having a phone impacts others.... like my roommate who now has to find her phone instead of ask me to call it on her behalf.
  4. Ya Mama... suddenly it's like we don't talk anymore.
  5. I will spend my time on other stupid things when I don't have access to social media... like netflix or cleaning my room or neopets or exercising.
  6. People don't judge you when you don't have plans if you don't have a phone. Hashtag winning my dudes!
  7. My selfie game is still just as strong as it ever was.  Meaning not at all strong... taking photos of other people's dogs on the other hand….
  8. I do actually need a phone... not a smart phone but in order to function as an employable human being, need a device with which to receive phone calls. 
  9. My laptop does pretty much everything my phone could do (except the alarm clock thing... it only worked 1 out of 3 attempts).
  10. Sometimes it's ok to just poop. Sit in the serene silence. Meditate. Take a porcelain pause to just be.
Basically, I've really been learning to embrace a healthier, more focused lifest--MY TOOLS JUST ARRIVED. GOING TO GO MCGYVER MY PHONE INTO EXISTENCE!

12 Kilometres of Consequences

Hey Mom! Once again, I have been humbled by reality and general principles of physics. I want to start by saying that at no point in time should you feel sorry for me during this story. I did this to myself. I was doing a fair bit of running at the beginning of COVID but then I got sad and busy and also sad so I stopped. Since June 2020 I have run exactly TWO times. ALSO (because you really should not have even an ounce of pity for me) it is important to note that I have never been a long distance runner... ever. Onward! I decided to participate in an ultra marathon relay (ie. I ran part of a race that some people can run all by themselves… good for them). In the beginning, I had every intention of taking this seriously. I was going to go for runs and workout and drink water. What I did do was exactly none of those things. Hey Mom! Wanna hear something cool and mildly disgusting? Of course you do... that's why you're here.  I have two zits that are symmetrically located on either side of my nose... pretty awesome eh?  These gemini zits are brought to you by your local final exams.  That's right folks just 3 back to back exams and I am home free! You may have noticed that this weekend is Easter.  There are so many things I love about Easter: time with family, a long weekend and the knowledge that the last few new years resolution survivors are being crushed under the temptation of creme eggs and chocolate bunnies so all the Facebook statuses about them being better than the rest of us is going to finally come to an end.
